How to Renew a Singapore Re-Entry Permit
Singapore permanent residents generally renew a Re-Entry Permit (REP) online through the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority. A valid REP is important when a permanent resident travels outside Singapore because it allows the person to retain permanent residence status while away.

Who can apply
ICA says an applicant must be a Singapore permanent resident and hold a valid travel document with at least three months of validity. If a passport is replaced with another passport of the same nationality, the new passport details should be transferred to the REP promptly.
When to renew
ICA instructs permanent residents to renew online within the three months before the current REP expires. Someone overseas without a Singpass account may apply through the nearest Singapore Overseas Mission and should submit at least two months before expiry.
Rules effective from 1 December 2025 also address permanent residents who leave Singapore without a valid REP or whose REP becomes invalid while they are overseas. Because the consequences can affect permanent residence status, use ICA’s current guidance for the person’s exact situation.

Renewal steps

Fee and processing
ICA publishes a fee of S$10 for every year, or part of a year, of the approved REP. Each REP is charged separately. The new permit begins on its date of issuance rather than extending from the old expiry date.
The general published processing time is within one week, excluding the day of submission, although some applications take longer. Treat that estimate as a planning reference, not a guaranteed decision date.
